Piezochromic inks for printing

Piezochromic inks are inks that change colours after putting a defined load or pressure to them.

They come in two versions: a version with a reversible effect returns to its original colour when the pressure releases, and in the irreverisble version – after exceeding a defined value of pressure, the ink irreversibly changes its colour.

This type of inks is used e.g. for observing influence of loads/pressure on a print in order to detect excessive pressure, visualise mechanical behaviour of different materials under pressure (tension, compression, torsion), examine condition of materials.

Irreversible inks are used for detection of destruction of materials during production, usage or maintanance (folding, fracture, wear, corrosion, cracks) as well as for wisual detection of impact and shocks in industries and transport.
