Electroluminescent paints
Electroluminescent paints are a set of paints and varnishes creating a luminescent coating, which glows with its own light after plugging in to the electricity. They are characterised by glowing under alternating or direct electric current. The glowing occurs after plugging in the paint surface to the alternating or direct electric current.
The effect can be completely controlled, without the need of prior „charging” with the daylight, as it is in case of phosphorescent paints, or after turning on the UV light, as it is in case of invisible fluorescent paints.
Electroluminescent paints are used e.g. in production of backlit, thin and lightweight panels which can be shaped and cut, thus creating a sort of an elastic lighting. They can also be applied on walls, under the condition of fulfilling certain requirements.
